Content Management System (CMS)

Whenever we are approached to develop a website, an almost universal request is the ability for client marketing staff (with little or no knowledge of web programming or markup languages) to create and manage their website pages and content easily and conveniently. Managing your own content gives you the flexibility to make timely updates to your website; to take advantage of sales and marketing communication opportunities or just simple information changes on a timely basis. The tool that let's you do this is a content management system (CMS). There are a couple of content management systems we like to run with...MODx and Wordpress.

MODx

MODx is an open source Content Management System and Application Framework run by a professional team of developers. It is under continuous improvement and evolution, and provides us a powerful framework on which we can deploy your website. Some of the main reasons why we like MODx is it's safe and secure, provides us with creative and technical freedom, is optimized for Search Engines (SEO), and is easy to use. MODx is ideal for medium to large client websites who have very specialized needs or requirements.

Although you may not have heard of MODx, it is a safe choice. It's been around for years, has won awards like Packt Publishing's Most Promising Open Source CMS for 2007 and has a strong community in many countries. It has been adopted by both publicly traded and large private corporations.

Wordpress

Wordpress is probably something you're already familiar with as it's an extremely popular platform. It started back in 2003 mainly as a blogging tool but has since evolved to be used as a full content management system. Wordpress allows us to get small to mid-size websites up and running quickly and easily.
